Corsham EstateAn overviewThe Corsham Estate today extends to about 2,500 acres (1,000 hectares) and comprises five let farms, more than 100 individually let houses and cottages together with a dozen or so other properties including workshops, offices and High Street shops. In addition, the Estate includes Corsham's Lacock Road football and rugby club grounds, the cricket pitch and bowls green. There are three dairy units on the Estate and a sheep flock of about 2000 ewes. Arable land sustains crop rotations of wheat and barley with oilseed rape, beans and peas typically being grown as break crops. In-hand woodland comprises mainly blocks of deciduous trees planted and maintained primarily for amenity. Much of the business of the Estate office appertains to the maintenance and letting of the significant portfolio of houses and cottages, most of which are listed and many within conservation areas. The Estate's custodianship, over a prolonged period, has helped to conserve the historic and architectural integrity of these buildings which are widely appreciated today.
Residential lettingsFrom picturesque lodges to imposing country houses, the Estate has a wide range of accommodation. It includes a Victorian terrace, built originally for Estate staff and retainers, as well as the famous Flemish weavers' cottages in Corsham High Street. A list of properties currently available (or expected to shortly become available) is provided in the left-hand margin. Clicking on the appropriate link will download brief letting particulars. Even with more than 100 let properties, vacancies are sporadic and often infrequent. Many Estate tenants have been resident for years. Prospective tenants are invited to complete the form below and their details will be retained on our files for 6 months following the date of receipt. Each current applicant will be considered for a tenancy by the Estate whenever a property becomes available for letting. According to the type of property available to let, selected applicants will be invited to view. Any offer of a tenancy will be made, subject to our subsequent receipt of satisfactory references, at the absolute discretion of the Estate as a private landlord. The information provided on sending this form will be retained on a file in the Estate Office for six months from the date of receipt. It will not be disclosed (either as a whole or in part) to any third party and will be referenced only for the purposes of letting property belonging to the Corsham Estate.
